During her third year she toured throughout the UK with the graduate company 'Ballet Central,' dancing in classical repertoire such as Coppelia, Giselle and Le Corsaire, as well chreography by Michael Corder and Sara Matthews. In The Genee International Ballet Competition 2005 she was awarded the Bronze medal. Since graduating she has spent a year dancing with 'Northern Ballet Theatre,' performing in David Nixon's 'The Three Musketeers' and Massimo Moricone's 'A Christmas Carol' and 'Romeo and Juliet.' "I found participating in the EYDP 2007 to be a brilliant experience. To work so closely with a choreographer was very rewarding, and the repertoire we created was both challenging and unique. It was a rare opportunity to dance new classical choreography, and especially because the Persian influences made it distinctive. I particularly enjoyed dancing in Turquoise Land, because the music, choreography and costumes all fitted perfectly, and added up to a very good piece. In terms of my own development, I think that I gained a great deal from EYDP. Being that we were only six dancers, we all had the time, space and guidance to improve technically, and dancing such a challenging and varied repertoire gave me the chance to grow as an artist. We were lucky to build up a really good working relationship between ourselves and with Nima, which meant that we got a lot done, but had fun too. EYDP also allowed me to live in Stockholm, which I really enjoyed. I was able to visit all the sights, and learn a lot more about Sweden and its culture and history." |
